Paleo Smoothie Recipes

Are you looking for the perfect paleo smoothie recipe? If you are following the paleo diet, you will know that every meal should contain a balance of protein, carbs and fat. The problem with smoothies is that they are made up almost entirely of carbohydrates, with a high portion of the carbs coming from sugars. To make your smoothies more paleo friendly here are a few tips to reduce sugar, while adding fat and protein.

  • Use fruits with less sugar such as berries to form the base of your smoothies
  • Add greens to add bulk to your paleo smoothie without adding sugar
  • Add yoghurt and raw eggs to increase protein
  • Use avocado and nut butters to increase fat and protein

1. Emerald Kale & Mango Smoothie

1 mango, peeled, diced, stone removed (keep refrigerated prior to using)
2 cups fresh kale –  2 large leaves, stem removed, leaves torn and washed
1/2 lime, juice only
1 kiwifruit, peeled and diced
1 cup cold coconut milk

Method: Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender. Process all ingredients until smooth and well incorporated. Add a little extra water if too thick.

2. Strawberry Coconut Almond Smoothie

  • 8-10 small frozen strawberries
  • 3 fresh strawberries
  • 250ml coconut milk
  • 1 tsp almond butter
  • 1 tsp honey

Method: All you have to do is process all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Garnish with coconut shavings and fresh strawberries. Should take 5 minutes max.

3. Blueberry Acai Paleo Smoothie

  • 1 1/2 cups coconut milk
  • 1 1/2 frozen bananas
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 acai frozen smoothie pak OR 1 cup acai juice

Method: Blend. Pour, Sip. Smile. Easy!

4. Berry Spinach Smoothie

  • 1 cup fresh spinach, washed
  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 1 cup vanilla Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup crushed ice
  • 1 cup water

Method: Add all ingredients to blender and blend on high speed until smooth (about 30 seconds). Enjoy!

5. Creamy Orange and Avocado Green Smoothie

  • ½ avocado, peeled with pit removed
  • 1 banana, frozen
  • 1 large orange, peeled
  • 1 cup kale, washed
  • 1 cup water

Method: Add all ingredients to blender and blend on high speed until smooth (about 30 seconds). Enjoy!
